Aprašymas
Traditionally, human resource management has largely focused on maximizing organizational performance and efficiency, often emphasizing short-term gains in productivity and employee output. As businesses and scholars have become increasingly aware of the importance of sustainability, however, there has been a shift toward HRM approaches that not only enhance organizational outcomes but also foster employee well-being, promote social responsibility, and minimize environmental impacts.
This new volume reflects the growing recognition of the need to rethink traditional HRM practices in the context of sustainability. It considers the long-term well-being of employees, organizations, the environment, and society while exploring how organizations can better align their human resource strategies with these broader goals. With a particular emphasis on psychological perspectives, the book examines the human factors that contribute to responsible, resilient, and sustainable workplaces.
Chapters explore the compatibility of HRM values with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and examine electronic human resource management tools, including web-based technologies that support recruitment, training, and performance management. The volume also considers the use of generative AI in sustainable HRM, addressing its opportunities, ethical challenges, and long-term impacts.
Additional topics include strategic HRM through the lens of corporate social responsibility, Industry 4.0 and high performance work systems, and the relationship between workplace spirituality, green HRM practices, and environmental sustainability. Contributors examine sustainable HRM in developed and developing countries, psychological contracts and their implications for sustainability, social
sustainability and quality of work life, and management approaches to workplace stress and mental health issues.
Bringing together state-of-the-art thinking and research contributions from experts in sustainable HRM, this volume provides valuable insights into the psychological foundations of sustainable human resource management.
